How 3 writers embarked on their book journeys

In November, I’m hoping to be on a ship on the Atlantic, delving deep into my next book. It will be a two-week journey of discovery: internal and external.

Very like book coaching, though it takes much longer than two weeks. People can be put off by not knowing what actually entails, step by step. Vague statements like, ‘it helps you to write your book’ aren’t enough.

For example, Book Coaching is not Editing. Book coaching helps you to write your book. Editing is what you do after it’s written.

But to get even more granular, and to show how every client’s adventure through their book is different, I’ve written this piece on how three clients worked with me in 2023.

Each writer was tackling a different problem:

  1. A need to understand the facts of the publishing industry before they could decide whether to publish traditionally, or independently.
  2. Searing self-doubt that prevented them from beginning to write.
  3. An over-complex plot line that had resulted in five years of writing and rewriting – and despair of ever finishing.

These writers may never write, or finish, or publish their books but in each case, coaching helped them to learn what they were capable of, and to move on from the agony of not knowing if they could ever write their book.
