Boundaries

Essential in cricket, land ownership and relationships.

Not so noticeable in the books we read.

But knowing what is in, and what is out, is how you write a good book.

Writing a book is not about pouring everything you know onto the page. It’s about telling your reader what they need to know.

That means, you need to know exactly who you are writing for.

That’s how you make good “design” choices.

“Should I include that case-study?” “Does this feel like a tangent to you?” “Do I need to explain how the toaster works?”

Use your reader to guide you.
