Think of the Live Coaching Group as a masterclass in learning how to tackle a nonfiction book.
You will be given the tools and the time to articulate the four foundational building blocks of your book:
â—¾Guidance: A structured approach to tackling your book idea
â—¾Feedback: The chance to ask me those questions you need answers to so that you can move forward
â—¾Accountability: My eyes on your work
You’ll receive the support you need while you plan your book so that you can move on to working on your book proposal.
I coach you, individually, through issues you encounter in tackling the four big questions: The Why, The Who, The What and The How.
Who would benefit from the Live Coaching Group?
Someone who is planning to write a nonfiction book to share their expert knowledge.Â
You need to be either:
◾in the early planning stage of your book, or
â—¾to have started your project but got stuck, or
â—¾are encountering agent or publisher rejection.
I coach writers to write great books founded on universal truths.
I specialise in coaching writers on topics such as: business practice (especially in the fields of finance, law and entrepreneurship), leadership, self-development, environmental commentary (for example, transport policy, urban planning, or architectural history) and travel experiences.Â
You might be a business owner, a service provider, or a coach. You want to write a book to help your clients and to make more people aware of your service.
You might be an academic who wants to write a book that will appeal to a general audience. (I have a lot of experience in helping professors, doctors and lawyers write for a non-specialist reader, but I am not the coach for academic books).
You might have published a book before, or never. You might know you want to self-publish, you may crave the opportunity to be published in the traditional manner, or you might be uncertain how you want to publish.
It doesn’t matter. The focus of the Live Coaching Group sessions is to get you started by getting your book idea foursquare on the page.
Who would not benefit from the Live Coaching Group?
Someone who is writing a work of fiction, or a type of memoir or nonfiction that does not focus on leading to enlightenment about the world around us.
The writer of a nonfiction book that is in a more mature state of development is unlikely to benefit as much from this Live Coaching Group as is the writer of a book still in its infancy.Â
How is this different to one-to-one book coaching?
The Live Coaching Group helps you to get your book plans off the ground. You will get clear on your motivation and sense of purpose in writing it, who you are writing it for, what your point is and how you will tackle the actual writing of it.
In the Group, I do not provide feedback on your assignments other than face-to-face on our calls. Unlike one-to-one book coaching, there is no email support for Live Coaching in between Calls.
In the Calls, you share your progress and your questions on the Assignments I’ve given you to work on.
When you need:
â—¾Deep attention on the developing detail of your book (for example, exactly how will the argument unfold, what precisely should be included or left out, how will you reach your readers, and so on), and
â—¾Support as you encounter the trials and tribulations of actually writing it,
that is when you need the personal, ongoing support of one-to-one book coaching.
Each session is an hour long, held by Zoom.
I open the session with a walk-through of the week’s content: that might be, the Why, Who, What or How of your book.
Sessions are run on a rolling basis and if I invite you to join us, you will join at the next iteration of ‘The Why’ session, and then attend the following three sessions.
After the walk-through, the focus is on you. It is your opportunity to ask questions and get my input on your work.
The ‘teaching’ element will be recorded, but not the feedback session. So, if you are unable to attend a session, you can catch up by watching the instruction.
Is the Group supported by a Community Site on Facebook, or similar?
No.
Do I get my money back if I don’t like it?
I operate a no-refund policy.
The reason why I ask you to apply for Live Coaching, and we jump on a call to meet each other is so that you can make a judgment call about whether it will serve your book.
If you and I decide we are all systems go, you make payment for all four sessions up front, before you attend the first session.
But if there is some sort of catastrophe that you or I couldn’t possibly have helped (you break a limb, your spouse breaks a limb, the whole family breaks a limb) and it means you can’t get the benefit of the sessions, then, of course, I will repay you the unused portion of your payment.
So, if the catastrophe stops you from attending all four sessions, I will repay the full cost. If you can’t attend the remaining three, I’ll repay you the cost of the three, and so on.
I will not refund the cost of sessions you don’t attend because your Siamese cat decided today was a good day to explore the nearest fish market and was attacked by a giant tuna.
